Teresa Margolles

John, Bertram A., and Ronald M. Druker Family Pavilion (Classroom 159)

For her performance, Las llaves de la cuidad (The Keys to the City), 2011, Mexican artist Teresa Margolles invites key maker Antonio Hernández Camacho from Ciudad Juárez to display his trade and share his experiences running a small business in a town riddled with violence. Camacho’s struggles provide insight into the social and economic conditions of life on the US-Mexico border.

This piece is courtesy of the artist and LABOR Gallery, Mexico City, and was created for "Disponible: A Kind of Mexican Show," then on view next door at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.

This event took place September 17-18, 2011 during the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art Open House.
