Carolyn Hsu and René Balcer with Nancy Berliner, Wu Tung Curator of Chinese Art

Over the past three decades René Balcer and Carolyn Hsu have masterfully assembled an important collection of contemporary Chinese Art. Thanks to their generosity, beginning on February 19th the MFA is pleased to be able to exhibit a representation of the works from several of the most significant artists from their collection. Please join us first for a reception in Riley Seminar Room where the collectors will discuss their experiences and intentions in collecting these diverse works, as well as their interactions with the path-breaking artists. The reception and discussion will be followed by a visit to gallery 183 with Nancy Berliner, Wu Tung Curator of Chinese Art and the collectors to see and discuss the works by Zhang Huan, Wu Jian’an and other players on China’s contemporary art stage.
