Two-Day Workshop: Saturday and Sunday, January 5 and 6
Course Description: For beginner and intermediate students, explore the fundamentals of creating glass from the furnace, as well as vocabulary, tools, and safety. Start with the paperweight and then learn to blow glass bubbles and apply color to create your own colorful drinking glass. No previous experience is required.
The MFA is delighted to present programming with Diablo Glass School. Located just blocks from the MFA—easily accessible by foot, car, or public transportation—Diablo is a place where beginning and professional artists share a nurturing environment, which encourages growth and development in an inviting atmosphere. Diablo offers a diverse range of classes including glassblowing, flame working, kiln forming, and stained glass. The interdisciplinary approach to studio glass offers students a broad spectrum of opportunities. Students of all ages have found endless forms of expression at the Diablo studio. Many courses include a tour of the Museum’s glass collection with discussion of the history of glass, different techniques, and artistic inspiration. All tools and materials are provided.
