Thursday, Ten-week session: Oct 4 to Dec 13 (No class Nov 22)
Course Description: Practical application of color for oil painters. Expand your skill and knowledge of color by “hands on” color mixing. Explore the nature of oil colors and their numerous color combinations. Learn about color intensity, value, temperature, complimentary colors, neutral colors and analogous colors. Materials will be discussed at the first class.
Instructor: Judy Ryan
Judy Ryan received her MFA in Painting from Boston University and a BFA in Painting from the University of Illinois. She has in depth experience as a painting conservator and received specialized training in traditional drawing and painting in an atelier in Boston. Throughout her career, she has received several grants and awards for artists, including the Frances A. Kinnicutt Foreign Travel Award. She continues to maintain a work studio and residence in Boston at the historic Fenway Studios Artist’s Cooperative where she actively serves on the Board of Directors.
