Ten-Session Class: Thursday, April 4- June 6

Course Description: Study the anatomy and gesture of a live model in a variety of poses. Practice short studies to explore themes of abstraction and interpretation. Using a wire armature, form the figure, then create a sculpture using plasticine.

The MFA is delighted to present programming with Stonybrook Fine Arts. Founded by MFA instructor Morris Norvin, Stonybrook Fine Arts is a sculpture studio and foundry located in Jamaica Plain featuring small classes in a variety of media. Course include Stick, MIG, and TIG welding; bronze casting; mold making; ceramic sculpture; live figure modeling; and jewelry making. All courses and workshops include a tour of the Museum’s collections of sculpture and metals. Easily accessible by the Orange line, there is also on-street parking available. No experience necessary (except as noted); all course and workshop sizes are limited to provide a safe working environment. All tools and materials are provided.
