Edgar Degas, "After the Bath, Woman with a Towel," 1893-1897

Dates: Ten week session, Saturdays, March 23- June 8 (no class April 13 or April 27)

Course Description: Working exclusively in the galleries, study proportion and the human figure while focusing on aspects of draftsmanship including shading, perspective, and composition. Draw from a clothed model and study the Museum’s collection of figurative sculpture. Materials provided.

 

Instructor: John Cafferty

John Cafferty has worked at the Boston Center for Adult Education and currently teaches in the Somerville Public Schools. He has taught art classes at Hofstra University and the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center in New York.  He holds a Master of Arts, Teaching  Art Education from Tufts University and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Cartooning and Illustration from the School of Visual Arts.
