Karen Haas and some of the artists in the show will lead us through “(un)expected families,” a thematic exhibition that explores the definition of the American family—from the families we’re born into, to the ones we’ve chosen for ourselves. The selection of archival, vernacular, and fine art photographs presents a wide spectrum of relationships, including multiple generations, romantic unions, and alternative family structures. This program will be held jointly with the MFA’s Friends of Photography.
