The Museum offers self-guided and guided tour options of the Museum’s collections, and guided tours for special exhibitions. To avoid crowds, we suggest that you visit during the weekday during afternoon hours.

Groups enjoy discounted admission, a dedicated entrance, and other group privileges.

For reservations, please complete our online request form at least four weeks prior to your preferred dates. You will receive an email confirmation. For cancellations, changes, or more information, e-mail or call 617-369-3310.

Guided Tours


Trained guides lead one-hour guided tours. All requests are subject to guide availability. There is no maximum size limit for Adult groups, however we suggest no more than 25 visitors per guide.

Self-Guided Visits


Groups are welcome to discover the Museum on their own. There is no time limit on your visit.

Gund Gallery Exhibitions

bookmarkGuided and self-guided options are available for Gund Gallery exhibitions. Early morning openings available for guided tours. Now accepting reservation requests for "Sargent Watercolors" (Oct 21-Dec 23, 2013), and "Quilts and Color" (Apr 14-Jun 30, 2014.

Please note that groups with reservations will receive priority access to Gund exhibitions.

MFA Guides


Our touch screen guides provide in-depth information throughout the Museum, including special exhibitions. The guide is available for rent in English, French, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, German, and Russian.

Free for University members.

Please note that individual memberships and other discounts are not valid toward Group Admission.

Guided Tour

Guiding fee of $150 (groups of 15 or under) or $10 per person (groups of more than 15) plus admission cost.
