DescriptionCross point and petit-point. Canvas worked with pink, gray, and brown wools and a little cream colored silk. In the center is a circular medallion with a cherub playing on a lyre, seated on a lion, worked with petit-point stitch. The rest of the design of leaves, scrolls, and narrow borders in a pink ground, is worked with the gros-point stitch. Small oval medallions in the centers of the outside borders are worked with petit-point stitch.
ProvenanceThe middle worsted work was done by the Princess Lamballe, and the outside by Kathleen O'Meara who gave it to me and who inherited it from her great uncle Dr. O'Meara who was with Napolean I at St. Helena The Legator".
