“This plate and also [D] 28 [A By-Road in Tipperary] were done in the park of Viscount Hawarden in the most beautiful part of Tipperary.”
This is the second print of the Dundrum or Multeen River in Tipperary flowing through the estate of Viscount of Hawarden, viewed from the east bank. The first is the undivided plate of Dundrum River and The Two Asses. Like the earlier composition, this is similar to a watercolor in the British Museum, Department of Prints and Drawings.
I. (Da Ha) The scene has been lightly etched in and there is light drypoint work in the trees on the left. There are several birds in the drypoint in the sky at left. There appears to be a crounching figure with a dog on its haunches on the left bank under the trees. The painting of the impression makes the right background appear blotchy. The foreground at the right and left has a few drypoint flecks, but is rather bare of work. With the signature and date in free script Seymour Haden 1863. (D.l.l.)
