Flying the American ensign off mizzenmast, under reduced sail, approaching end of quay left. Another ship in distance right. Accompanying the watercolor are the Ship’s Articles, John Casttoff, Master, New York to Havre and return: agreement dated Sept. 23, 1842, with small woodcut of a ship at top; also tariff book used on ship, published by Mahlon Day, New York, 1840 and log book of the “Louis Philippe,” 1845-1847.
