DescriptionAs the god of scribes, Thoth played a vital role in the weighing of the heart after death, and therefore he became a popular subject forfunerary amulets. He is typically shown as a standing man in a short kilt, with the head of an ibis. This amulet is made of faience with a pale green glaze.
ProvenanceFrom Giza. 1925: excavated by the Harvard University–Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt.
