Sample of cotton batik with design of Light neutral ground on which the design of diagonal bands of irregular shape are printed with black and neutral orange. Similar to 21.589 except that there are little groups of white dots in the center of the diamond-like forms in 21.591.


1921, sold by Prince Ario Kusumodiningrat (b. circa 1860), Surakarta, to Ananda K. Coomaraswamy (b. 1887 - d. 1947) for the MFA. (Accession date: April 7, 1921)
