DescriptionSample of cotton batik with design of alternate rows of dark brown and dark blue diamonds arranged diagonally, the diamonds are framed by wavy lines printed with light and dark neutral orange, inside the diamonds are rosette designs printed in light and dark neutral orange.
Provenance1921, sold by Prince Ario Kusumodiningrat (b. circa 1860), Surakarta, to Ananda K. Coomaraswamy (b. 1887 - d. 1947) for the MFA. (Accession date: April 7, 1921)
