Ground: cream colored linen quilted with light yellow silk in backstitch in small scale lozenge diaper. Design: large gold central oval medallion with shallow scalloped edges, enclosing central full blown carnation with other carnations radiating from it; one fourth of central medallion repeated in each corner of bedspread; over body of bedspread large scale sprays of carnation on delicate stems. Worked with red, pinkish red, pinkish purple, ivory, a little light neutral yellow silks, and gold thread in satin, stem, knot, and variety of couching stitches. Bound with green tape. Backed with yellowish green glazed linen (?). Much of cream colored silk quilting now disappeared. Several patched mended places. Corner quarter medallions reapplied.
