This blue faience bowl has a black checker board pattern on the center of the inside, surrounded by eight lotus blossoms with alternating open and closed buds. The tips of the flowers reach up to the rim. On the exterior of the base, there is the outline of a black painted, eight-pointed, lotus blossom.
From Kubban, (ASN 110/182). 1911: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition for the Archaeological Survey of Nubia; awarded to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt.
