DescriptionBuddhist ritual banner (Tendai sect) composed of three vertical panels with vajra motifs (top and bottom) and Wheel of Law (center) embroidered with silk and couched with gold-wrapped thread on cream satin and surrounded by border of blue and gold brocade; attached to the sides are narrow bands of natural gauze with concentric circle pattern (seigaiha) trimmed with natural and indigo blue striped silk; attached to the bottom are four wider bands of gauze with concentric circle pattern (seigaiha) and Wheel of Law motif trimmed with natural and indigo blue striped silk; metal ring attached at top for hanging. One of eight (21.1639-21.1646).
