Linen ground fabric, solidly covered with embroidery worked with polychrome crewels in New England laid stitch (or Roumanian couching), although some of flower centers in french knots and pineapples in lower section outlined in stem or split stitch; green background with a roughly symmetrical floral arrangement of central carnation, pineapples in lower left and right corners, and peonies in upper right and left corners;

According to original description: many nail holes in canvas; canvas brittle and cracked, several small areas of embroidery eaten by moths; inked inscription on part on canvas: “(name?) - illegible - (J?)ULY 1772”.


According to original description, illegible name and date "[J]ULY 1772" written ink on the canvas (probably on reverse side which is no longer visible)
