DescriptionEcclesiastical costume. Chasuble front. Cut and voided red velvet (Italian) with a repeating motif of a pomegranate surrounded by floral sprays within lobate compartments; severely worn. Orphrey strip (Flemish), two full and one quarter compartment formed by a repeating ornate architectural vault with a raised-work centerpiece. Top compartment: a male saint holding a staff and book (?). Middle compartment: Saint Barbara holding a sword and a book and standing on a broken wheel. Polychrome floss silk and metallic yarns; some worn and missing.
