Not On View
Linen embroidered with tarnished silver thread (yellow silk wound with thin strips of metal) and pinkish red and dark neutral blue silk. The design, worked with an oriental plait or herringbone stitch, consists of two panels of conventional figures, probably women, with both hands raised carrying angular branches, and mounted on stags. Between these panels are four smaller panels on which are two-headed monsters. The design was originally outlined and detailed with black silk which has almost entirely disappeared. A border of pinkish red damask is sewed about the edge.
