Octagonal, pear-shaped body with alternating wide and narrow panels, chased and engraved with swags suspended from bandwork and enclosing coats of arms of a marquis. Fitted, domed, hinged lid with gadrooned outer edge, covered spout, and finial in the form of a basket holding artichoke-like petals. Stands on a shaped foot with gadrooned edge whose eight-sided contour matches the body and lid. C-shaped molded ivory handle. The lower half of the body is chased and engraved with architectural brackets supporting paired dolphins flanking a central urn with flowers. Elaborate strapwork panels below spout and at base of handle. In the Regence style.
