Seated, facing, three-quarter length, holding sword in left hand. Hinchey went to Memphis to paint Jefferson DAvis and others and may have made this drawing there. The artist’s diary indicates that he made a number of portraits of officers of the Nebraska Ist Regiment. (Letter from A. Stephen Hinchey, son of the artist, Augst 5, 1959.)
