Painted white heavy kin (leather) leaf. Center scene of castle, views of Rhine to sides; red shields on ivy vines between and to sides (shields between inscribed “L” and “S”); red ribbon at top inscribed “1842”; decorative bottom border, ivy vine at top. Gilt paper covers blades above shoulders on reverse. Narrow gilt band at top. Pierced ivory sticks decoratd with gilt-silver; overlaid mother-of-pearl decorated with gilt-silver on guards, gold foil backing. Mother-of-pearl rings on rivet.
