Cover on Book of Common Prayer, the Gospels and Psalms. “London: Printed by Robert Barker…1640.” On front cover and back cover are growing plants bearing leaves and a variety of flowers worked in petit-point with pink, green, blue, and yellow silks. The stems and edges of cover are worked in herring-bone stitch and gold thread (white silk wound with gilded silver) now so much worn that it appears silver. The background is worked with silver thread in long vertical stitches equal to four short stitches. The back is divided into three compartments each enclosing floral spray. Book mark with twelve braids. A little very fine “purl” wire used as centers of flowers and base of plants. Printed in London, 1640.
