In the foreground two soldiers (one an infantyman and one a Hussar) are embracing before they leave.The one on the right (Hussar) holds a sword, by the blade, near his left shoulder. The one on the left has a bedroll and knapsack on his back.Both have ammunition (?) shoulder bags. A log is on the ground behind the Hussar and a small rock is near his left foot
In the background, to the left, there is a wagon with a standing soldier sketched into the seat area and two people sketched into the transport area.
In the background, to the right, a soldier (Hussar) stands lighting his pipe and speaking with a lady who is standing in the entry to a shop; the shop has a flag hanging above the entry which has a “G (?)” on it
