DescriptionSmall square drawstring bag. Linen canvas substrate completely covered in embroidery. Silver metallic thread in trellis stitch covers ground. Floral motifs in tent stitch with polychrome silk threads. Metal purl in bullion knots. Two different Baroque floral motifs on each side. Inscribed at borders: THIS PURS TO THEE HR WITH RICHES WISHETH I MIGHT BE LIKE FORTUN (Obverse) WHOSE PROPERTI AS FAME HATH TOULD WAS OF IT SURE TO FIL WITH GOLD (Reverse). Gray silk ribbon stitched in swags across top. Cord missing, some areas of loss.
