The shallow bowl of circular form, raised from sheet, has two flat cast handles of geometric openwork design. The raised domed cover has an applied gadrooned rim and a cut-card foliate pattern radiating from the center, where a cast gadrooned finial is placed.
ARMORIALS: engraved on both handles, crest of Fellowes (GG--an earlier one hasbeen erased, this prob late 18th, early 19th).
INSCRIPTIONS: on bottom, later engraving,"R Ford to JR"
SCRATCHES: on bottom, 30=16; 15=4 (with an X across it). One handle, No48=29-19. Under lid, No48=29-19; 15-8-1/2.
On underside, maker's mark TF(Grimwade 2749); leopard's head crowned; date letter O; lion passant (repeated on underside of one handle).
