DescriptionLinen, plain weave with embroidered repeating rows of chinoiserie and other motifs (insects, animals, floral slips, etc.) in silk. Edged with hand-knotted fringe along top left edge: "John Stilwell Drawear at Ye Flaming Soord Rusill Street Covint Garden Remoove at Quartear-Day 2 ye (3?) Pidgins in halfe moone Street". Fair condition. Yellow-brown discoloration, brown stains, small areas of loss to and unfinished embroidery.
