Brayton Ives (b. 1840 - d. 1914), New York; April 13, 1915, posthumous Brayton Ives sale, American Art Association, New York, lot 552, to the MFA. (Accession Date: May 1915)

Notes:
[1] Possibly one M. Clement, a print dealer who worked closely with Bibliothèque Nationale de France, of 3, rue des Saints-Pères, Paris.

[2] The sale of Irwin’s collection to Morgan was arranged and brokered by Joseph F. Sabin and George H. Richmond. Though Irwin was aware of the goal of selling to Morgan, it appears that the dealers took legal possession of the collection before re-selling it.
