Gray silk satin brocaded in pink in floral motifs. Dress cut in 18th century manner. Boned bodice [a]; wide neckline, V-shaped pleated collar panel, fiddle-back seam ending in decorative button; short cap sleeves; welted boning and seams; hook and eye back closure; glazed cotton lining. Overbodice[b]: pink ribbon lacing at front over lace panel; neckline trimmed with lace and pleated silk; short sleeves trimmed with lace and pink satin bows; pink satin bow center back; lace trimmed waistline; rubber dress shields. Quilted pink satin petticoat skirt [c] trimmed with lace; brocaded draped overskirt trimmed with lace: fullness accentuated by sewn-in panier-style boning; bum pillow center back; hook and eye closure. Marked in waistbands: “Mrs. G. Lumb, Costumier, 86 Queen Street, Exeter.”
