Field Marshal the Rt. Hon. Earl Kitchener, P.C., K.P., Secretary of State for War 1914. Was born in Co. Kerry 24th June, 1850. Entered Army 1871. Major General 1896. Commanded Khartoum Expedition 1898 (received thanks fo Parliament and £30,000, and raised to the Peerage). Chief of Staff South African War 1900-1902, and General (received Viscounty, thanks of Parliament, and £50,000). Commander-in-Chief India 1902-7. H.M's. Agent and Consul General in Egypt since 1911. Was created Earl 1914.
