The Ancient World

Girl, wearing a chiton without himation, sits on a rock. Holds up a mirror in right hand, decorated with the head of Medusa. Red paint in hair.
Notes in Warren’s records: All the lower part is ancient as far as the figure is concerned, tho the plinth & part of the rock are modern. The head, neck & some few parts of the Ram are entirely modern, while the part between the breasts & the neck was so badly broken that in setting them together the original form has been lost.

By 1901: with Edward Perry Warren (according to Warren's records: Bought in Paris.); purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren, December 1901
