DescriptionApollo stands with hands on hips, feet planted firmly on a small plinth. Anatomical details are rendered in simple, summary fashion. A long, cylindrical projection from the back of the head shows that the figure was attached to something, probably a tripod leg. There are traces of other attachments at the top of the head and the back of the base. Even, greenish patina.
ProvenanceBy date unknown: with Edward Perry Warren (according to his records: bought in Naples); 1898: purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren for $ 69,618.13 (this figure is the total price for MFA 98.641-98.940)
