DescriptionAs its name suggests, this gold finger guard for a mummy would have been placed on the appropraite finger of the deceased in the process of preparing them for burial. An impressed finger-nail outline contributes an element of realism. A fragment of finger bone remained inside.
ProvenanceFrom Nuri, Tomb of Harsiotef (Pyramid 13). 1917: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Sudan.
