DescriptionThis ring was found in the thieve's debris in the main burial chamber. It appears to be the gold sheet covering of a core of unknown material. Several complete silver and gold signet rings were also recovered from the burial. This ring has an elliptical bezel now missing its inlay. Most interesting is the fact that several ring forms were included in the burial (cast signets, rings set with glass, gold sheet over metal cores).
ProvenanceFrom Meroe, Beg. W 333. February 1923: Excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Sudan.
