Description"Mandarin" fan. Painted white silk and paper leaf in shades of blue. Applied ivory faces and silk robes. The obverse side has painted court scenes and an elaborate decorative border. The reverse depicts three court scenes, six smaller decorative vignettes surrounded by birds and fruit. Carved and pierced ivory sticks with figures and floral motifs. Guards are carved ivory and have four figures, one seated under a tree with three other men standing nearby surrounded by weeping willows, peonies and roses. Stylized silver ring and rivet.
