DescriptionHandle-plate sherd of an Attic black-figured pottery column-krater. Decorated on top with a black-figure cock, with traces of added red on its comb, and part of incised splinter rosette in top right corner as filling ornament. On the left, there is part of a palmette and lotus chain on top of rim.
ProvenanceFrom Naukratis. 1885: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the EEF by the Egyptian government; October 28, 1885: voted to the MFA at EEF general meeting; sent over February 1886. (Accession date: 1886).
