Fragment from cope of San Valerius (26.293 is another fragment) from Cathedral of Lérida. Design: alternate rows of interlacing forms, one based on straight lines, other on curves, woven with gold thread (gilded leather wound on silk) outlined with red silk. Ground is white silk; brilliant blue and green silk fill some of spaces of interlacing forms.

Provenance

Probably acquired in Spain by Adolfo Loewi, Venice; 1926, sold by Loewi to the MFA for $2070.43 [see note 1]. (Accession Date: December 2, 1926)
