Warp of linen; the design in the center of the band shows a bust of a haloed female figure with a raised hand inside a medallion framed by a square with a bird in each corner. On the sides are plant forms, woven in red, yellow, and light and dark green wool and natural-colored linen. The haloed figure ( a saint ) resembles images of Ge, the goddess of earth, in other Coptic textiles. The border encloses scrolled branches with leaves on both sides. Design shows Byzantine influence.
