DescriptionBrocaded with gilded animal membrane wound on a linen core on a compound ground of white, green, blue and rose silks. Symmetrical pattern of confronted lions, their heads turned back, each with a short cape blowing out behind him. Not a complete repeat. Very worn, gold worn off.
ProvenanceRatton (probably either Maurice or Charles Ratton), Paris; sold by Ratton to Adolph Loewi, Los Angeles; 1952, sold by Loewi to the MFA for $60. (Accession Date: May 15, 1952)
