DescriptionFragment of statuette of the Chthonian Dionysos (?). Torso broken at waist. Elaborate stephane. A piece missing from the upper cord; the loops above each rosette are broken; also the fillet and cord ends on each shoulder.
ProvenanceBy date unknown: with Edward Perry Warren (according to Warren's records: Bought at Taranto. I believe it came from a sanctuary . . .about a mile & a half or two miles along the road eastwards from the modern canal.); purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren, December 1901
