Hair ornaments

Hair comb of flattened sheet brass, 1/16 inch thick, cut with eight tines for more than half its length, above a spool-shaped handle, topped with abstract addorsed animal head motif.


Said to have belonged to John Alderman (17th century) and sold by his descendants [see note]. By 1982, William Taylor (dealer), North Attleboro, MA; 1983, sold by William Taylor to the MFA. (Accession Date: January 12, 1983)
