The handle is from a chest or vessel, perhaps a cauldron, in the form of a bull’s head with three rings emanating from the face. The bull’s head is hollow; the rings, solid. Dark green patina. Paired in Greek, Etruscan and Roman Bronzes with 65.1340.
Said to come from Istanbul. 1966, gift of Richard R. Wagner (b. 1907 - d. 2002), West Barnstable, MA, to the MFA. (Accession Date: November 9, 1966)
