Provenance1637, donated by Doña Magdalena Valdivieso y Rojas to the confraternity of Vera Cruz, Alcázar de San Juan, Spain; about 1795, probably transferred to the parish church of Santa Quiteria, Alcázar de San Juan. About 1900, purchased in Barcelona by a private collector, Spain; until 2013, by descent within the family; March 27, 2013, consigned anonymously by the grandchild of the Spanish private collector, Neumeister, Munich (sale no. 359, “Alte Kunst”), lot 403. 2013, purchased by Rafael Gusano (dealer), Madrid; 2013, sold by Gusano to Jaime Eguiguren Arte y Antigüedades, Buenos Aires; 2014, sold by Eguiguren to the MFA.
