The tip of the nose has been damaged slightly, and there are dark discolorations in the marble. Otherwise, the condition is good.
A crown of laurel leaves circles the head and meets in front. The hair is parted above the forehead and is drawn back to a knot behind, in a fashion typical of ideal heads in the fourth century B.C.


By date unknown: said to be in the Ludovisi Collection; by 1888: with R. Lanciani (said to come from the Ludovisi villa); purchased by MFA from R. Lanciani, December 8, 1888, for $173.91 (this is the total price for MFA 89.4-89.8)
