Laid-work. Fine white linen, low neck, and short sleeves; at the bottom of the skirt and sleeves, and the middle of the front is a close design of flowers and leaves worked with white cotton. The leaves worked with white cotton. The “thread” lace on the neck, and bottom of the dress, is narrower and different in design than that on the sleeves.

Provenance

Said by the lender to have been made in Boston, in 1840. Lent by Miss A. E. Newell, Dec. 8, 1886. To become the property of the M.F.A. at the lender's death.
