The lid is hinged and has a bud-shaped top. The body and bottom have turned ridges. Soldering marks on the rim and base indicate where the vessel was joined to inkwell 65.911. The lid would have opened outwards on the axis of connection. Another soldering mark on the body of the vessel indicates where the bronze placque with ring 65.912 was attached. Solder imprints on the bottom indicate the presence of three or four pelta-shaped feet.
By 1964: with a dealer in Athens (said to be from a tomb in Macedonia, found with objects 65.911, 65.912, and 65.913); purchased by MFA, September 22, 1965
