DescriptionThis ivory inlay piece would originally have adorned a wooden fixture such as a funerary bed. It has been shaped in the form of an ostrich chick with wings raised. The body of the ostrich is decorated with a pattern of bored circles. It is largely complete, two fragments having been rejoined. Only the head is missing. The inlay is still embedded in mud used to attach it to its original fixture.
