DescriptionTsuji banzuke for the kabuki play "Aoto zôshi" that was staged at the Ichimura Theater (Edo) from the 6th day of the 10th lunar month of Kaei 7 (1854). The day's program included the dance drama "Toriaezu suzuna no tanemaki", the Tokiwazu- style Jôruri piece "Kantan", and the drama "Junshoku furisode genji". The banzuke was publsihed by Fukuchi Mohei and Yamamoto Jûgorô.

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
