DescriptionTsuji banzuke for the headlining kabuki drama "Sakura sôshi gonichi bundan" (text has been trimmed off), which was staged at the Morita Theater (Edo) from the 15th day of the 7th lunar month of Bunkyû 1 (1861). The day's program also included the drama "Uchi sorou yone ga furisode", and three Joruri plays: "Hoshi koyoi au yo no mutsugoto" in the Kiyomoto-style; "Ika ni chôryô yume no ukihashi" in the Tomimoto-style; and "Koma mukae no ji no murasame", which was performed with Kiyomoto-style musical accompaniment. The banzuke was published by Ogawa Hansuke.

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
